Why I started Cheerful Champs.
When I first set out to create Cheerful Champs, I knew I wanted it to be more than just a holiday club—I wanted it to be a place where children felt safe, valued, and truly cared for. As a parent myself, I’ve experienced the challenge of finding childcare that isn’t just about filling time but about providing quality experiences and nurturing environments. I didn’t want Cheerful Champs to be another holiday camp where children were just a number—I wanted it to be a place where they could thrive, have fun, and make meaningful memories.
The Easy Route vs. The Right Route
I had a choice when setting up Cheerful Champs. I could have taken the easy route—avoided the rigorous Ofsted registration, kept staffing to a minimum, and maximized profits. Many holiday clubs do this because, quite frankly, it’s easier and cheaper. But as a mum first and a business owner second, I knew that wasn’t the right choice for me.
Instead, I made the decision to ensure Cheerful Champs was Ofsted-registered, fully insured, and staffed with qualified, experienced, and caring adults who genuinely love working with children. Yes, it means higher costs, more regulations, and more hoops to jump through, but it also means peace of mind for parents and a much better experience for the children.
A Place Where Every Child Matters
One of my biggest priorities when designing Cheerful Champs was making sure that every child received the attention they deserved. That’s why we maintain higher staff-to-child ratios—so every child is seen, heard, and supported. I never wanted parents to feel like they were just dropping their child off into a chaotic, overcrowded environment. I wanted them to know that their child would be looked after by adults who genuinely care, not just supervised.
At Cheerful Champs, children aren’t just names on a register—they are individuals with unique personalities, needs, and talents. We take the time to get to know them, celebrate their achievements, and make sure they feel safe and happy every single day.
