At Cheerful Champs, we believe that every child deserves to feel proud of who they are, not just for what they achieve, but for how they show up in the world. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce something really special at our camps…
🌟 The Adventure Journal 🌟
This simple but powerful booklet is given to every child who joins us, and it’s so much more than just a keepsake. It’s a way of celebrating effort, kindness, creativity, teamwork and so many other wonderful qualities we see every single day at camp.
💛 Moving Beyond “The Best”
In lots of settings, awards often go to the fastest runner, the top goal scorer, or the loudest performer. And while those achievements are great, we know that not every child can (or wants to!) compete in that way.
So we decided to flip the script. Our Adventure Journal focuses on values and skills that all children can demonstrate, in their own unique way.

Throughout the day, our team of leaders are on the lookout for children showing:

- Respect
- Responsibility
- Teamwork
- Honesty
- Resilience
- Courage
- Empathy
- Inclusivity
- Positivity
Each time a child is spotted showing one of these values, they earn a sticker in their journal – and a huge cheer from the team! 🎉

We also recognise skills that often go unnoticed but are so important to a child’s development. In the journal, children collect stickers for being a:

These moments might happen during a science experiment, on the football pitch, during a craft activity, or simply while helping a friend – and we love catching them in action.

At the end of each day, children reflect on their Adventure Journal, adding new stickers, remembering the positive moments, and feeling proud of themselves.
It’s a small but powerful way to help children recognise their own strengths, boost self-esteem, and go home smiling – no matter what the day has looked like.
